Natalia Rios is a lovely young girl
who lives with her loving aunt Inez and Inez’s husband, Arcadio, a shameless character who tries to rape Natalia and
ends up selling her into slavery to a gang of hoodlums. One of the villains, Valente, takes pity on the innocent young girl.
He risks his life to help her run away, and Natalia returns to her aunt, only to find her on her deathbed. Inez tells her
that she must go live at the home of the wealthy Serrano family. When Natalia arrives at the mansion, Don Teodoro Serrano
and his daughter Sandra welcome her with open arms; but his wife Apolonia treats her with contempt. Meanwhile, Sebastian,
a handsome young man, lives in a nearby town with his adoptive family, Amparo and her son Eduardo. Natalia and Eduardo become
friends at the University. While Natalia feels only strong friendship for him, Eduardo falls madly in love with her. Eventually,
Sebastian meets Natalia as well. The attraction between them is instant, but what the adoptive brothers do not realize that
they have accidentally fallen in love with the same woman! Although Sebastian and Natalia have both professed their love for
each other, when Apolonia learns that Eduardo is in love with Natalia she does everything in her power to force her to marry
him. Natalia’s heart belongs to Sebastian, but when Eduardo falls gravelly ill and is not expected to live long, she
must decide whether she should marry him out of compassion, or be true to her heart and defend her love for Sebastian "against
all odds".
